Well the world--at least by Western reckoning--is a year older. I will be also, shortly. I find comfort in the fact that there are still out there people who are actually older than me, many substantially older. And comfort too in the fact that at least some of the people whom I admired and respected--heroes and teachers to one degree or another--when I was much younger are still around, like the now 87-year-old lifelong professional science fiction fan and long-time science fiction and fantasy museum-keeper Forrest J. Ackerman . . . .
